Sorry for the late reply! But thanks for checking out my blog!

calmdistraction asked: I saw your article in Black Girl with Long Hair and I loved it! I'm a Senior in high school aspiring to go to Emory. That's been my dream school since 6th grade. I ope I get accepted! I'm a transitioner, I'm looking forward to the day where I can finally do my BC. (: Can you tell me what affect school stress had on your natural hair (if it had any at all)?
Hey! Sorry for the late reply. School can only stress you in you come in with an unrealistic idea of what it will be like. Emory is not like high school AT ALL. As far as my hair, I wouldn’t say that academics and stress had a major affect on it, but I will say that I had to set aside time in my busy schedule just for my hair. I hope you get accepted!

So I saw this lady on the shuttle today and just HAD to snap a shot of her hair. Too bad I couldn’t get a front shot. It was HUGE!

I decided to do a Bentonite Clay mask on my friend Jelecia’s hair. She’d been complaining of dryness and lack of curl definition so I thought this would be a great little hair spa/detox.
For her length (4-5 inches) I combined 1/2 cup of Aztec Secret Bentonite clay, 2 tsp of ACV, 1 1/2 tbsp of “After Bath” oil mixture by Oyin Handmade (you can use oil of your choice) and enough water to give it a pancake batter consistency (not watery or runny).
I applied it to her soaking wet hair and allowed it to sit under a plastic cap for 15-20 minutes. She then rinsed it thoroughly in the shower and spritzed and oil/water mixture afterwards.
